Today, I want to introduce a very special watch here, it is from the great Excalibur series of Roger Dubuis. The Knights of The Round Table, which was unveiled by Roger Dubuis at SIHH 2013, has a reference number RDDBEX1398. The watch was published a few years ago but there was only a replica of it at the end of 2017, it is too long, I think the main reason is that no manufacturers could be able to replicate it well. Now finally a factory had the courage to replicate the Roger Dubuis Kings of The Round Table, and the quality is fine. Check its dial, you will find the watch is hard to be replicated, the factory, which does not have a name, spent a lot of time and efforts to make the replica to be closer to genuine, and you can see it from those photos, is it good? I think it is not bad, moderate quality and could be accepted, but the price is a little expensive.
The replica has a traditional Excalibur case, which is 45mm in diameter and has a fluted bezel. The case is made of solid 316L stainless steel and has a thick rose gold coating. The crown guards are fixed to the case by screws, rose gold crown is big and features the unique logo in satin-finish face. Triple lugs are naturally extended from the case. On case back, there are full of engravings, which are supposed to be the solemn oath of the Knights of the Round Table, there is also a lacquered coat of arms engraved in the center.
The dial is the most unique part. It is colorful and uses enamel material. There are 12 three-dimensional “knights” stationed at each hour marker, which replace each of the traditional marker. The dial design is inspired by the Arthurian Round Table. The 12 sculptural knights are also in rose gold tone, each is carved by hand, look at them carefully, you will find their fine detail and each of them is different. The watch master must spend a lot of time to carve, so you know why they are selling the replica at a high price.
The bracelet is made of genuine crocodile leather that has embossed patterns. Black leather strap forms a high contrast with the rose gold case, but it is perfectly in line with the rose gold tone, the black leather band makes the replica watch look more elegant. There is a deployant clasp in white stainless steel on the band, I think it will be better if Roger Dubuis uses a rose gold clasp. The biggest difference between genuine and the replica lies in the movement, genuine watch uses Roger Dubuis in-house movement, while the replica Roger Dubuis RDDBEX0398 is equipped with a manual winding tourbillon movement of famous Sea-gull watch factory.
